Tax is simpler, and even less avoidable: net winnings from online games are taxed at a flat 30% under Section 115BBJ, and platforms operating Indian TDS must deduct 30% at withdrawal under Section 194BA, with no basic exemption. On the operator side, the Supreme Court ruled on 28 May 2026 that 28% GST applies to the full face value of every deposit — retroactively — and a 40% rate has been proposed; expect that cost to surface as thinner bonuses and worse odds.
