Responsible Gambling

Real-money games are entertainment with a built-in cost. This page is the honest manual: how to keep it fun, how to notice when it stops being fun, and where free help is.

The ground rules

  • Decide the budget before you deposit — an amount whose total loss would not matter. That number is your month, not your starting point.
  • Never chase losses. Yesterday's loss does not change today's odds; the house edge is constant and patient.
  • Never play with borrowed money — no credit cards, no app loans, no money meant for rent, fees or family.
  • Time-box it. Decide in advance when the session ends, and end it then — especially when you are winning.
  • Gambling is not income. Every game on every site we review pays back less than 100% over time. Anyone promising otherwise is selling something.

Use the tools casinos must give you

Every casino in our top list offers limit tools in the account settings — use them on day one, while you are calm, not after a bad night. Deposit limits (daily, weekly or monthly) are the single most effective control because they act before the money moves. Loss limits, session reminders, cool-off periods of 24 hours to 6 weeks, and permanent self-exclusion sit alongside them. One honest caveat for India: there is no national self-exclusion register covering offshore sites, so excluding yourself from one casino does not block the others — if you need a full stop, combine self-exclusion with blocking software such as Gamban or BetBlocker on your devices, and consider handing UPI app PINs or account oversight to someone you trust while you reset.

Warning signs worth taking seriously

  • Gambling with money you cannot afford to lose, or borrowing to play.
  • Chasing losses, hiding play from family, or lying about amounts.
  • Thinking about gambling constantly; restlessness or irritability when trying to stop.
  • Letting work, studies or relationships slip because of play.
  • Feeling you need bigger stakes for the same excitement.

Two or more of these is not a character flaw — it is a recognised condition that responds to treatment, and acting early makes it dramatically easier.

Free, confidential help

  • GambleAware.org — independent information, self-assessment tools and guidance, available to anyone online.
  • NIMHANS, Bengaluru — the SHUT Clinic works specifically with gaming and gambling-related problems; the NIMHANS toll-free psychosocial helpline is 080-4611 0007.
  • iCall (TISS) — free psychosocial counselling at 9152 987 821, email and chat options available.

If money is already damaged, talk to your bank about blocking gambling merchants on your cards and UPI, and deal with the debts in daylight — a free conversation with a counsellor beats another deposit every single time.

Protecting minors

Everything on this site, and every site we review, is strictly 18+. Keep casino accounts, UPI PINs and devices locked away from teenagers, and use the parental controls in Android and iOS if devices are shared. Casinos verify age at KYC — but the first line of defence is at home.
